Paul is now aware of the false teachers "hammering" on the Galatians, making works and following after the Law with all its rituals, special days, and outward displays the way to please God, when Paul knows these teachings are totally bogus and the only way to please our Heavenly Father and to know Him in our hearts is through Jesus Christ. Our freedom and all the inheritances God has for us comes only through Him....not the Law...not rituals...or not in any outward physical display. God has chosen our relationship to Him must be done in our very hearts!...through Christ.......
"The Abrahamic Covenant is comparable to this: when a father dies and leaves an inheritance to his children, during their tender years, the life of the child to whom this inheritance belongs is not much different than a slave's. When the child reaches an age determined by the father, it is then he receives the inheritance which has been made available to him. Until that designated time, the child is subjected to obeying the rules of the household, being instructed on the proper way to behave toward others, and to always give respect to those who are the parents of the family.
This is quite similar to our own lives...in Jesus Christ. We were trained as a slave, made to follow the dictates of the Law, honoring God through the customs of rituals and certain festivals, and yet not being a part of what God our Heavenly Father really has for us. Our hearts were still not intertwined with His...that is until God sent His Only Son.
So, the day arrived when the promise that was spoke of in the Abrahamic Covenant was to come alive, and it really did! The person God sent to give to us the inheritance promised was God's own Son, Jesus our Messiah. He too, came born of a woman and was subject to the form of following the Law just like us, yet He paid the price of our freedom, for were enslaved, that we might enjoy the inheritance, all this being made possible because we are God's children and clearly showing us His love for us through the death and resurrection of His own Dear Son.
Since that time, God has sent His Spirit, the Precious Holy Spirit to aid, to comfort, and to guide us in ways that truly please the Father, all this coming from within the depths of our hearts, where the Holy Spirit dwells and Christ now reigns. We are now even able to cry out "Abba" or Father, something we would have found impossible to do when following the dictates of the Law.
No longer are we having to wait for the inheritance, for Christ has purchased our freedom and now through Him we are able to receive the inheritance given to us by God, who is now our loving Father.
In reference to all Gentiles here in Galatia, you were (before you gave your hearts and lives to Christ Jesus) enslaved to no-name gods, in fact, some of your so-called gods didn't even exist.
So, now, since you have come to know our Heavenly Father, or more importantly, He now knows you, why in the world would you want to go to a system of Laws that did not work....even the Jewish traditions will confirm that!
Look, the training of the Law in the arrival of the inheritance....is past. Christ Jesus has come, Christ Jesus is risen, and now we await for Christ to come again! The days of observing certain days and seasons, the old ways of sacrifice for sins, and all the outward displays of following the God of Abraham...is over! Christ Jesus has ushered in God's real intent...and that is to live within our hearts.
To say I am not concerned for all of you in Galatia would be an understatement. We have labored hard among you to bring and share the freedom we now have in knowing Jesus Christ as our true Savior and the Mediator of the Covenant. Don't let this go "up in smoke", all the work being all in vain.
Live as I do...we are free! We are free in Him and we are no longer slaves to the Law. Our freedom in Christ Jesus allows us to serve our God much better than anything the Law could have ever offered to us. Instead of looking to the Law as a way of drawing close to our Heavenly Father, rely on the Holy Spirit to lead you into a life of Righteousness!
Here is what I do know. When I first came to you, and shared the Freedom of the Good News, your kindness toward me was unparalleled. You never mistreated me, rather you treated me like royalty, an angel sent from heaven itself, it was like I was Christ Himself presenting to you His love for all of you.
And I realize I was sick at the time, in rough medical condition, yet you did not despise me whatsoever. Instead, you took me in as one of your own and embraced the message of Salvation I shared with you.
Don't you remember all the joy we had over this, and the gratefulness we had for one another? I know any of you at that time would have given life or limb on my behalf.
And now, I am suddenly your enemy because I continue to share the very same Truth of the Gospel I shared with you when we first come together? I can hardly believe this....... "
