"Cascade of Delight" ...Gleaning from Psalm 36:7-9

Psalm 36 is one of those psalms no one is sure who actually wrote it...it might have been David, but there is no 100% assurance it was. At any rate, this Psalm was "handed in" to the choir director, and it became a noted Psalm.
Verses 5- 9 speak all about how good God is. The first 4 verses speak about our shortcomings in being the type of individual God would want us to be.
Here about verse 7 natural surroundings are used to emulate the kind of God we have in our hearts. The sky, clouds, mountains, and the seas are majestic reminders of who He is and what we mean to Him.
The sky in this format is to serve as a reminder of His love for us...beautiful arrays of blue full of His Compassion....dark blues and almost black when His anger is aroused against those who are out to destroy us. Clouds bring with them the Truth of His Word...reminders of the Promises He has made to us. Mountains give us a symbol of His Strength, and yet His Goodness as well. The Mountains speak to us of His stability and His Righteousness as well. The seas...speak of His Justice...for in the end all will be made known...and His Fairness will be our judge!
Verse 9 brings an awareness of just how dependent we are of Him. For in our own selves, our eyes are not able to grasp the very natural symbols around us: the skies, the clouds, the mountains, and the sea. Unless He opens our eyes...we are not able to see or understand how deep His love is for us....and yes, the deserts also have meaning...and He walks with us in those times as well. As one writer explained it: "As I was walking through a desert time in my life, I noticed only one set of footprints. So I asked the Lord, "Where did you go...when I needed You the most?" He replied, "I was right there...those were My footprints...I had to carry You in My arms....to get you through."

  A Gleaning from Psalm 36:7-9

" Your love is like finding a treasure...and whoever finds this treasure...finds all the shelter they need.
It is a place of refuge...built entirely on trust...trust in what You have spoken.
Food and drink are all provided by You, from the abundance of Heaven itself. The water You give us to drink is full of Life...and brings Life into our desolate and dry lives. From these well-nourished drinks...come Your Life...and makes our lives a "Cascade of Delights!"
And even more revealing...our eyes are now opened...from the very Light You give us."
