Thoughts on Proverbs 3:5-6

This is another of what I call "Popular Verses". I see it everywhere...on key chains, wooden signs, tee shirts, etc.
People of all different walks and cultures seem to know this verse, or at least the first part, "Trust in the Lord.."

We all need someone to cling to, someone to believe in and rely on. Putting our trust in a husband or a wife, a close friend, or a member of your family is in my mind a natural thing to do.
In these verses, I think the word "trust" is of a different origin. It is speaking of  a surrender of your will, your life, and letting God have input and leadership in all that a person does.
C.S. Lewis once wrote "It is when I give up myself to His personality, that I finally begin to have a personality of my own." The word trust here is much more or so it seems to me than just relying on another...it involves a transformation that launches you to new and undiscovered paths in your life.
Pope John Paul ll said, "Faith leads us beyond ourselves...."

                                                A Gleaning from Proverbs 3:5-6

"Trust in the Lord  with your whole heart, all of it, from the bottom of your heart all the way to the top.
Don't try to figure out life's "curves" on your own. In fact, it's best not to try to figure life out at all,,,not on your own intelligence or the experiences you may have had. Now, don't discount what you have learned, just don't make them your first choice when you need to make a decision about something.....learn to trust Him instead.
And don't make a decision based on how happy you think you will be, how sad you are, out of excitement, or in a depressed state,..... none of the emotional stuff. Learn to put your trust in Him and let him be involved in decision making times.

You will do yourself a favor taking a little time learning to hear God's voice...speaking to your heart. Learn to pick up on that, acknowledge His voice...in fact learn to embrace that Voice....it will do wonders for you.
He'll make it clear to You which path to take, especially as You get to know Him. And the direction He gives you, its always right and true, and He is always straight up about it. He may not give you everything all at once, but just follow His leading and you can be sure of this....it will be good!
